This is a full-time on-site role for a Finance Manager located in Uganda. The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing financial planning and analysis, managing budgets, preparing financial reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advising on financial matters. The role includes supervising accounting staff, developing financial policies, and liaising with external auditors and financial institutions. The Finance Manager will also play a pivotal role in strategic decision-making to support the organization’s growth and sustainability.
Qualifications
Strong financial Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (mandatory).
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- 5–7+ years of progressive experience in financial management, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience in utility, infrastructure, or donor-funded sectors.
- Advanced knowledge of Sage and QuickBooks accounting systems.
- In-depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local financial regulations.
- Proven ability to manage donor reporting, grants compliance, and project financial controls.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and present timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis, forecasts, and performance insights.
- Lead preparation of statutory financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
- Monitor cash flow, accounts receivable, and payable to ensure financial sustainability.
- Establish strong financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Coordinate with external and internal auditors to ensure full audit readiness and timely resolution of findings.
- Partner with Business Leads and the General Manager to develop and monitor strategic financial plans.
2. Donor & Project Financial Management
- Develop and manage project budgets aligned with donor and institutional guidelines.
- Ensure accurate project accounting, billing, and reporting in compliance with donor requirements.
- Monitor project-specific risks and provide financial updates, summaries, and closeout reports.
- Strengthen documentation and audit trails for all donor-funded projects.
3. Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the finance team, ensuring clarity of roles, accountability, and performance-driven culture.
- Provide continuous guidance, performance reviews, and professional development opportunities for finance staff.
- Foster collaboration across finance, operations, procurement, and administration teams.
4. Payroll & Statutory Compliance
- Oversee payroll management, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Ensure timely filing and remittance of taxes and other statutory obligations.
- Align payroll systems with internal controls and corporate policies.
