The Post:
We seek to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and motivated individual to the post of Food and Nutrition Lab Assistant (Secondary ages 12 to 16 years), for maternity cover.
The successful candidate would be required to: -
- Assist in the setting up of Food and Nutrition practical lessons
- Assist students in preparing their ingredients e.g. measuring accurately
- Supervise students during practical lessons
- Help students to follow recipes
- Be aware of any possible health and safety issues and act accordingly
- Be responsible for all equipment used in the teaching of Food & Nutrition
- Keep a stock book and breakage record to indicate necessary replacements
- Prepare an inventory of stocks annually for the annual stock take exercise
- Maintain and upkeep food lab equipment including stoves, ovens and other cooking equipment
- Responsible for the general cleanliness and safety of the food lab
- Assist teacher in placing order for foodstuff and ingredients
- Ensure goods delivered are as per order and in good condition
- Cover lessons and facilitate learning activities based on lesson plans provided by the absent teacher
- Do duties and other supervisory duties of students as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Vocational studies with Home Economics in Education (specialising in Food and Nutrition)
- At least three years’ experience after graduation with the Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to engage students and transmit an enthusiasm for Food & Nutrition
- A working knowledge of Google Apps and the confidence to work with IT
- Ability to offer an after school extra-curricular activity
Note:
1) Candidates invited for interview will be required to present their original Bachelor’s degree Certificate and degree transcript and an original Uganda National ID card.
2) Upon appointment, the successful candidates will be asked to do an Interpol check (Certificate of Good Conduct)
