Dalilang Foods & Beverages is a Ugandan FMCG manufacturer producing packaged snacks, including potato crisps, gonja chips, coated peanuts and peanut butter, alongside spring water, fruit nectars and energy drinks.

Job Description

Ensure factory wide compliance with Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) specifications, Ministry of Health guidelines, and National Drug Authority requirements. Conduct thorough inspections, sampling, and verification routines to safeguard product safety, operational integrity, and standard operating procedures. Facilitate external audits, coordinate certification filings, and drive corrective and preventive actions to maintain regulatory readiness.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Maintain factory operations in strict compliance with UNBS specifications including US 28 and US 165, Ministry of Health regulations, and National Drug Authority requirements. Conduct regular inspections, sampling, testing, and reviews using validated methods, verified reagents, and calibrated instruments. Exercise independent release authority to contain or reject non conforming materials and finished goods, refusing compromises driven by output targets. Identify, document, and quarantine deviations in raw materials, processing conditions, hygiene, packaging, and regulatory records. Participate in evidence based root cause investigations and verify the implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions. Prepare work areas, records, procedures, and evidence to facilitate UNBS, customer, and statutory certification audits. Coordinate the preparation and filing of documentation required for UNBS product certification and regulatory renewals. Maintain complete, legible, and traceable records, logs, checklists, and reports to support investigations and compliance verifications. Enforce food safety, hygiene, environmental controls, and occupational safety rules, escalating critical hazards or contamination risks immediately.

Skills

Regulatory standard interpretation and compliance monitoring for food and beverage standards. Audit facilitation, inspection methodology, and UNBS product certification filing. Technical quality judgment, sampling plans, and objective verification of specifications. Root cause analysis, non conformance containment, and corrective action verification. Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Higher/Ordinary/National Diploma in Food Science, Food Processing Technology, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Laboratory Science, Environmental Health, Public Health, Quality Management, Packaging Technology, Agriculture, Applied Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Law, or closely related science and engineering disciplines. Relevant laboratory or technical trade qualifications preparing for industrial food safety and inspection work. Certifications in HACCP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, internal auditing, or laboratory quality systems are preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience handling regulatory affairs and food standards in Uganda.
