Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and reliable General Automotive Technician to join our growing workshop team. This role involves independently diagnosing and repairing vehicles, conducting routine maintenance, and ensuring that vehicles are serviced to the highest standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in a dealership or automotive service center environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
- Conduct scheduled servicing and ensure adherence to manufacturer standards.
- Replace and repair parts such as brakes, suspension, exhaust systems, and engines.
- Carry out inspections and road tests to validate repairs.
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults.
- Maintain accurate job cards and service records.
- Report any major repairs or warranty issues to the Workshop Manager.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety in the workspace and adhere to all workshop policies.
- Support and mentor junior technicians when required.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications
Education: Diploma or equivalent technical certification in mechanical engineering.
Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience as a technician in a vehicle dealership or workshop.
Skills:
- Strong mechanical and basic electrical repair knowledge.
- Ability to read technical manuals and use diagnostic tools effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position based in Kampala, Uganda.
- Physical work in a workshop setting; may include lifting, bending, and use of tools.
- Occasional overtime or weekend duties depending on workload
