Background
A well‑established, specialist geotechnical and construction services group based in Uganda, operating across multiple African markets, is seeking a General Manager to lead and scale its regional operations.
This is a senior executive role with full responsibility for strategy, performance, profitability and governance across a growing, multi‑country business.
As the General Manager based in Uganda, you will assume end‑to‑end leadership of the group’s operations, with accountability spanning strategy, operations, finance, commercial management, plant and equipment, health & safety, and business development. You will work closely with the Board to execute growth plans while ensuring strong governance, disciplined execution and sustainable profitability.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a technically strong business through its next phase of expansion, building scalable systems, strengthening leadership teams and driving operational excellence across borders.
Success will be measured through:
- Revenue growth and improved profitability
- Consistent, high‑quality project delivery
- Strong health, safety and operational performance
- Effective plant utilisation and investment
- Expansion into new markets and long‑term client partnerships
Key Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management or similar (preferred)
- MBA or senior management qualification (advantageous)
Experience
- 10–15 years’ experience in piling, geotechnical or heavy construction environments
- At least 5 years in a senior executive, general management or regional leadership role
- Proven track record managing complex, multi‑country operations (preferred)
- Strong commercial, contractual and financial management experience
Key Responsibilities
- Set and execute regional strategy in alignment with the Board
- Oversee operational, financial and commercial performance
- Lead major tenders, negotiations and strategic client relationships
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
- Drive governance, reporting and operational consistency
- Guide plant, equipment and asset investment decisions
- Build and develop high‑performing leadership teams

- Strategic, decisive and outcomes‑driven leader
- Hands‑on executive with strong operational discipline
- Confident communicator and negotiator across stakeholders
- High integrity with a strong governance mindset
