Job Summary
Design, maintain, and support the delivery of Digital Health technology, and organize, install, maintain, and support Baylor Uganda systems and infrastructure for stability, security, and enhanced performance of Servers, local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN) and all systems across Production, Disaster Recovery, and Test environments.
Overall Responsibilities
- Server administration: Install, configure, operate and maintain servers using appropriate technologies
- Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, file server management, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly
- Support Server hardware maintenance and Monitor data centre health using existing management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise, and build, test, and maintain servers as needed
- Support the process of account creation and deactivation and continuously manage user access to ensure the right access levels to Baylor Systems
- Configure Windows and Linux Servers and manage SAN storage
- Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, print server, WSUS, Failover Clustering, file server, etc.
- Email server administration (load balanced Client Access Servers and DAG mailbox servers)
- Run Start and End day procedures, plus related activities such as generation of system reports.
2. Networking: Design, install, operate and monitor the computer LAN, WAN and internet both at COE and regional and cluster offices:
- Network design and installation, ensuring network connectivity for smooth operation of all systems
- Switching and routing configuration
- Internet firewall configuration (Bandwidth management, VPN management, etc.)
- Leased line and internet monitoring
- Wireless LAN administration
- Database administration and Telephony management:
- Ensure that system backups and restorations take place regularly
- Extract and/or load data and ethically handle private data, including financial and/or healthcare data
- Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast responses to front-end users
- Carry out capacity planning and ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning well
- Alcatel PABX management and liaison with telephony vendor
- Call Center and CRM management
- Vonage box, Polycom and Sensaphone management
- Digital Health Support
- Use digital health technologies to reduce inefficiencies, improve access, reduce costs, increase quality, and make medicine more personalized for patients.
- Implement digital health innovations and products that are aligned with changing trends in health
- ICT Security Administration: Ensure all ICT resources are secure both physical and logically:
- Firewall security management: Spam filtering, URL filtering, and Gateway Antivirus among others
- Antivirus administration: central antivirus server and endpoint management
- Encryption management and application of the latest security protocols
- Biometric attendance and access control systems
- CCTV management
- Windows update server and client update management
- Monitoring the local area network (LAN) for threats or errors and the internet for security risks
- Perform security reviews, identify gaps, and maintain a security risk management plan.
- Implement information security and privacy policies, standards and procedures to protect Baylor Uganda from internal and external threats
6. Reporting and Documentation:
- Monthly report on the status of Baylor Uganda ICT systems and server status to the ICT manager
- Installation and configuration documentation
- Network Diagrams and other Architectural designs.
Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:
- · A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field· At least five (5) years’ experience in ICT support, telephony systems, wide and local area networks including experience with common-carrier data networks; Microsoft and/or Cisco Network Certification or other network certification.
- · ICT certifications in Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, ITIL, Project Management, and related certifications
- 5 Years Relevant Experience
