Location: Ridge Hotel, Fort Portal, Uganda

Ridge Hotel is seeking a passionate, energetic, and talented Junior Chef to join our growing hospitality team. The successful candidate will support the kitchen team in preparing high-quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, and delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to hotel or restaurant standards.
  • Prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring.
  • Ensure food is prepared and presented in a timely and appealing manner.
  • Always maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Assist with stock management, inventory checks, and proper storage of food items.
  • Support senior chefs in daily kitchen operations.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained properly.
  • Help minimize food wastage and maintain portion control.
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate or training in Catering, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field is an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
  • Good personal hygiene and grooming standards.
  • Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is an added advantage
