Job Purpose:

The Livelihood Assistant will be responsible for mobilizing, training, and supporting women savings and lending groups to strengthen their financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and livelihood resilience. The officer will ensure that groups are effectively managed, financially literate, and linked to relevant economic and social opportunities in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Group Formation and Capacity Building

Mobilize and organize women into Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) or similar savings groups.

Train groups in savings and lending methodologies, record keeping, and governance.

Build the capacity of group leaders in leadership, accountability, and conflict resolution.

2. Financial Literacy and Enterprise Support

Conduct trainings on financial literacy, business planning, and entrepreneurship.

Support women groups to initiate and manage small businesses or livelihood activities.

Facilitate linkages between savings groups and financial institutions or other service providers.

3. Monitoring and Reporting

Track group performance, savings, loan recovery, and income-generating activities.

Maintain accurate records and submit regular progress reports.

Collect data and success stories to demonstrate project impact.

4. Community Engagement and Networking

Collaborate with local leaders, community structures, and district departments to promote women’s economic empowerment.

Represent the organization in community meetings and relevant forums.


Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

Minimum Education: certificate in Business Administration, Microfinance, Accounting, Community Development, or related field.

Experience: At least 1 year working with community-based organizations, savings groups (VSLA, SILC), or women empowerment projects.

Skills:

Strong facilitation and community mobilization skills.

Knowledge of microfinance or community-based savings models.

Good record keeping and reporting abilities.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit (Class A).

Speaks local languages: Luganda.

Personal Attributes:

Self-driven, proactive, and able to work independently in the field.

Respectful, gender-sensitive, and passionate about empowering women.

Strong integrity and commitment to community transformation.
