On behalf of Our client in the FMCG Sector, we are looking for a competent and experienced Manager-Plastic to be based in Kampala
Reports To:

Duty Station:
Kampala, Uganda.
Job Summary:
The Plastic Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization’s Plastic manufacturing facilities, planning, coordinating, and directing the activities (processes) that result in products (goods). Plastic Manager will be accountable for both Plastic Production Activities and All Maintenance related the Plastic Department.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Safety
- Ensure safety of all employees working in Plastic Department.
- Overall Responsibility for all Safety Aspects within the Plastic Department
- Support Plant Safety Management Systems
- Compliance with all Safety Regulation of Company and Local Legislative Authority/Bodies
Quality
- Ensure Quality Std in Plastic Depart is adhered to
- Manage any OOC (Out of Control) situations
- Design prepares and record test and manufacturing methods to ensure high quality and efficiency.
- Comply with entire Q/A manual to assure shipping of exclusive high-quality products down the supply chain
- Help ensure that customer, statutory, standards, and internal requirements are met or exceeded.
Cost
- Manage Cost of Manufacturing (COS) (Manufacturing Usage variance etc.)
- Manage Plastic Department OPEX – All
- Support Capex projects in Plastic Department
- Ensure that manufacturing stays on schedule and within budget.
Delivery
- Execute Plastic Production Schedule required by Plant Production Planner
- Plan determine optimal utilization of manufacturing workers and equipment to meet manufacturing goals within the Plastic Department
- Manage Machine Efficiency/Factory Efficiency
- Plan/Execute all Maintenance activities in the Plastic Department
- Determine if new manufacturing machines, methods are needed. – Capex requirements defined
- Conduct routine audits of equipment’s and schedules.
- Maintain feasible schedules of entire product teams and expedite material as needed.
- Maintain and present training to subordinates on every manufacturing procedure, processes, and equipment.
- Design and change facilities and production line along with assist function areas regularly to reduce space and waste.
- Analyze manufacturing data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement; identify and utilize methods of making manufacturing process more efficient and effective (reducing waste, using lean).
- Write manufacturing reports and present to top management.
- Direct corrections (corrective action) of any manufacturing problems that may arise; work with Quality Manager in development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAP)·
- Performs any other task as per management request.
Morale (HR)
- Lead and motivate all subordinates to fulfill schedules, improve control costs and quality.
- Train, coach and supervise employees to attain optimum performance considering every employee.
- Ensure to promote atmosphere allowing them to use best of their skills.
- Employ, interview, monitor and conduct disciplinary methods for all subordinates
- Plan determine optimal utilization of manufacturing workers and equipment to meet manufacturing goals within the Plastic Department
- Hire, train, and evaluate manufacturing workers; monitor workers to ensure they meet performance and safety requirements.
- Write and present employee performance reviews along with recommend financial increases.
- Involve in development plus administration of rewards program apt for high achievers.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, or a master’s degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of work experiences a Plastic manufacturing environment with experience in Husky Machines
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Organizational and time management skills
- Effective problem-solving ability
- Customer Service skills.
- Reasoning and calculating
- Adapt quickly to unfamiliar situations
- Embrace continuous learning mentality
- Work independently or in a team environment.
