Role Overview:
The Medical Officer is responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients, conducting thorough medical assessments, and collaborating with the imaging team to ensure accurate diagnoses. The role involves ordering and interpreting appropriate imaging investigations, managing patient treatment plans, and ensuring comprehensive clinical documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care:
- Conduct comprehensive history taking and physical examinations for all patients.
- Order and interpret diagnostic imaging studies (X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI) in collaboration with radiologists.
- Develop and implement patient management plans based on clinical findings and imaging results.
- Provide emergency medical care when required within the center's capabilities.
- Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council guidelines.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Liaise closely with radiologists, imaging technologists, and other clinical staff to ensure integrated patient care.
- Review imaging reports and correlate with clinical findings to support accurate diagnosis.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical meetings.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records for all patients.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control protocols.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized university.
- Registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council with a valid practicing license.
- Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience, preferably in an outpatient or diagnostic setting.
- ACLS/BLS certification is an added advantage.
Competencies:
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and empathy.
