The Role
Reporting to the Territory Supervisor, role of this position is to promote, market and distribute MSI UG’s range of pharmaceutical products to meet set ambitious business objectives. The position holder is responsible for managing business relationships with existing clients, while getting new customers, to guarantee customer satisfaction when interacting with MSI UG brands.

The position holder will be required to consistently engage with healthcare institutions and healthcare providers (HCPs) to share MSI UG product offering and superiority, to grow Marie stopes brand awareness and credibility better than competition.

Key Responsibilities        

  • Effectively detail, train and promote assigned range of pharma products to healthcare providers for prescription and use by highlighting features/benefits of the products, proven efficacy, new research and clinical findings through one-on-one detailing and group meetings.
  • Achieve minimum secondary sales target as set by supervisor by identifying opportunities, negotiating contracts, closing sales, and exceeding volume and revenue targets.
  • Achieve maximum coverage & productivity by preparing efficient and effective route plans to cover the entire territory and required number of existing and new customers on daily basis.
  • Ensure visibility of MSI UG products at the outlets, display of company’s communications materials at the outlets/doctors’ chambers/clinics/hospitals.
  • Promote MSI products by presenting product information, deliver samples, conduct demonstrations and continuous medical education (CMEs) on features, benefits, usage, and clinical evidence.
  • Distributor support & liquidation, through booking sales orders from secondary sales customers and creating linkage to the distributors.
  • Increasing coverage and distribution through maintaining existing customers while pitching and recruiting new customers.
  • Book orders from doctors/private service providers, pharmacies, wholesalers, chain stores, hospitals, private clinics, NGOs.
  • Collect and report information on competitors’ products and activities.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports to the Territory Supervisor as per specified reporting formats.
  • Attend trainings from time to time and develop competencies required for being a more effective salesperson.
  • Build and maintain relationship with local influential and opinion leaders on behalf of the company.
  • Ensuring effective custodianship and accountability for all assigned MSI UG assets by implementing controls to prevent loss, theft or misuse of assets.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Degree in Biological, Biomedical sciences, or Diploma in pharmacy, Clinical medicine or Nursing from a reputable institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience with robust pharmaceutical sales and specialisation in sales or marketing of health products.
  • Additional training in pharmaceutical marketing will be an advantage.
  • Significant knowledge in Family planning and pharmaceutical sector in Uganda.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Deep product and clinical knowledge.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Relationship-building and customer service.
  • Quick decision making and highly intelligent.
