About the role
Purpose
The Partnerships Lead is responsible for developing and executing Kura's partnership strategy by identifying, negotiating, and managing strategic alliances that support business growth, increase Assets Under Management (AUM), expand market reach, and enhance the Company's competitive position.
Responsibilities
Partnership Strategy
- Develop and implement Kura's partnership strategy in line with the company's strategic objectives.
- Identify new partnership opportunities that contribute to business growth and increased AUM.
- Develop annual partnership plans, budgets, and performance targets.
- Continuously assess market trends and recommend strategic collaborations.
Business Development
- Identify, pursue, and secure strategic partnership opportunities.
- Develop relationships with corporates, employers, SACCOs, investment clubs, financial institutions, development partners, fintechs, insurance companies, and professional associations.
- Build a sustainable pipeline of partnership opportunities.
- Lead negotiations and structure mutually beneficial partnership agreements.
- Develop referral and distribution partnerships that increase client acquisition.
Partnership Management
- Manage the entire partnership lifecycle from onboarding to renewal.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for key strategic partners.
- Conduct regular business reviews with partners.
- Monitor partner performance against agreed targets.
- Resolve operational issues affecting partnerships.
- Maintain strong long-term stakeholder relationships.
Revenue Growth
- Drive revenue generation through strategic partnerships.
- Increase Assets Under Management sourced through partnership channels.
- Develop initiatives that improve partner productivity and client conversions.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and product expansion.
Product and Market Development
- Work closely with Investment, Marketing, and Product teams to develop partnership solutions.
- Support the launch of new investment products through partner networks.
- Identify emerging market opportunities and recommend innovative partnership models.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent Kura at industry events, conferences, networking forums, and stakeholder engagements.
- Strengthen Kura's visibility within the investment and financial services industry.
- Build relationships with regulators, industry bodies, and strategic influencers.
Compliance and Governance
- Ensure partnership agreements comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with Compliance and Legal teams during partner onboarding.
- Ensure adherence to KYC, AML, and data privacy requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation of partnership agreements and performance.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage the departmental budget.
- Monitor partnership profitability and return on investment.
- Recommend commission and revenue-sharing structures where applicable.
Reporting
Prepare periodic reports covering:
- Partnership pipeline
- New partnerships established
- Assets Under Management (AUM) generated
- Revenue contribution by partner
- Client acquisition through partnerships
- Partnership performance
- Renewal rates
- Business opportunities under negotiation
- Market intelligence
- Strategic initiatives
What we're looking for
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in business development and partnership management.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Commerce, or a related field.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience within financial services or investment management is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
