Ibero Uganda Ltd. For our group company, Ibero Uganda, we are looking for a Production and Plant Manager.
The position will be based in Namanve - Uganda and reports directly to the Co-Managing Director.
Your responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership
- Oversee and coordinate the entire operations chain: intake, milling, warehousing, maintenance, and utilities.
- Manage production planning in alignment with procurement, quality, logistics, and commercial teams.
- Ensure plant readiness and operational efficiency during peak seasons.
- Analyze and assess production data for the entire process from FAQ intake to graded coffee export.
2. Process Management
- Implement a process-oriented flow covering all steps from intake to export.
- Ensure all line managers (Intake, Factory, Warehouse) are cross-trained and interchangeable.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for operational teams, linking performance to measurable outcomes.
3. Quality & Compliance
- Enforce quality assurance protocols in coordination with the Quality & Procurement teams.
- Support implementation of the 4-eyes principle between intake and main quality labs.
- Ensure adherence to food safety, occupational health, and environmental standards.
4. People & Performance
- Lead, coach, and develop direct reports and supervisors.
- Manage expectations and performance of staff through structured reviews.
- Ensure a safe working environment, maintaining discipline and motivation.
5. Maintenance & Reliability
- Supervise mechanics, electricians, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure plant equipment uptime is maximized with minimal operational disruptions.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Drive operational efficiency projects, cost savings, and waste reduction.
- Lead shift design and 24/7 operational readiness initiatives.
7. Budget & Reporting
- Manage the operations budget, including maintenance, labour, and utilities costs.
- Prepare regular reports on operational performance, capacity utilization and bottlenecks.
Your profile
- Proficient in English and any other local languages
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Agribusiness, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in plant operations management, preferably in Agri-processing or FMCG manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of process flow management, lean manufacturing, and preventive maintenance.
- Proven leadership experience managing multi-functional teams.
- Knowledge of coffee processing is an added advantage.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities (controller mindset).
- Strong communication skills
- High level of integrity, discipline, and accountability.
