Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Program Designer to join our team in Kampala. This full-time on-site position will report directly to the CEO. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, tools, and controls using advanced computer-aided design (CAD) technology. You will work closely with a small, dynamic team, emphasizing collaboration and innovation to achieve exceptional results.

Position Details

• Reporting Structure: Reports to CEO

Key Responsibilities
1. Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using CAD equipment.
2. Produce three-dimensional models using CAD software.
3. Review and analyze specifications, sketches, and drawings to assess design factors and procedures.
4. Design blueprints for specialty items, such as furniture and automobile components.
5. Compute mathematical formulas to create detailed specifications for components or machinery.
6. Coordinate with team members to resolve design issues and enhance system performance.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Post-secondary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in design.
- Required Skills: Strong reading comprehension, critical thinking, complex problem-solving, and sound judgment.
- Required Knowledge Areas: Proficiency in design, computers and electronics, and production processes.
- Required Technology Knowledge: Familiarity with graphics software (Adobe Photoshop), office suite (Google Docs), and word processing (Microsoft SQL Server).
- Language Proficiency: English and Luganda.

Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Skills: Social perceptiveness and instructing.
- Preferred Knowledge Areas: Production and processing; customer and personal service.
- Preferred Duties: Modify designs to correct deficiencies or reduce production issues; supervise and train drafters, technologists, and technicians.
