The Project Manager is UIA’s representative on the Kampala Industrial and Business Park, Namarwe Infrastructure Development Project and shall ensure the project is fully implemented. This role involves coordinating the activities and schedules of the EPC contractor, the Owner’s Engineer, and all relevant stakeholders, while providing strategic oversight to ensure the project is delivered successfully, on schedule, and within the approved budget.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An Honour’s Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Water and Sanitation Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture from a recognized University or Institution.
  • A Master’s Degree in Civil or Water and Sanitation Engineering, Construction Management, Infrastructure-Management, Construction Management, Architecture from a recognized University or Institution.
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional body.
  • A Post Graduate qualification in Project Planning and Management from a recognised University or Institution.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

At least 9 (Nine) years working experience with a minimum of 3 (three) years working with an infrastructure project.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Manager shall be expected to carry out the following duties and responsibilities

  • Develop workplans and road map for the design and development of Infrastructure at Kampala Industrial and Business Park, Namarwe (KIBP)
  • Develop and implement the Project Risk Management Plan (RMP)
  • Develop and implement the Project Stakeholder Management Plan (SMP) and Communication Management Plan (CMP)
  • Participate in all project activities including, inter alia, meetings, site visits and inspections, monitoring and evaluations among others;
    • Coordinate and monitor day to day project activities to ensure that projects are completed in line with project deliverables and quality standards;
    • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, government agencies, and other stakeholders to align project objectives, deliverables and overall project goals.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with contractual obligations by the Owner’s Engineer and the EPC Contractor to ensure adherence to agreed terms, standards, and performance requirements.
  • Manage UIA’s Project budget
  • Prepare and present comprehensive monthly project status reports to UIA Management for review, incorporating management comments, analysis of project risks, and recommended mitigation measures, and submit actionable reports to the Board of Directors to support informed decision-making and provide strategic guidance.
  • Manage and coordinate the project invoicing process, ensuring accuracy, compliance with contractual requirements, timely certification, and prompt submission for approval and payment.
  • Manage, maintain, and periodically audit project documentation and filing systems to ensure accuracy, completeness, compliance, and ease of retrieval.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the timely acquisition of all required permits and approvals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and coordinate the preparation, review of the project’s financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and alignment with project reporting requirements.
  • Participate in the recruitment, supervision, performance appraisal, and professional assessment and development of the project management team, while undertaking any additional responsibilities as may be reasonably assigned.
  • Lead and oversee the project management team, ensuring effective coordination, performance, and achievement of project objectives.

  • Ensure all project milestones are achieved on schedule and within the approved budget.
  • Develop, review, and implement the project roadmap and workplans in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Actively engage and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure all project activities align with overall project objectives.

  • Facilitate timely and effective communication, coordination, and management of all project activities and meetings.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive quarterly project status reports for management review.
  • Ensure project financial statements are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with reporting requirements.
  • Manage efficient documentation, filing, and retrieval of all project-related records.
  • Lead, supervise, and appraise the project team to optimize performance and ensure successful delivery of project objectives.
