Role Overview:
We are seeking an R&D Specialist with a strong background in solar energy, refrigeration, and sustainable technology to join our research and development team. This role will be crucial in driving the innovation of our solar-powered cooling hubs and ensuring they meet the highest standards in efficiency, reliability, and environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and optimization of solar-powered cooling systems for agriculture and food storage.
 
- Conduct research on energy-efficient refrigeration technologies, including heat exchange mechanisms and thermal storage.
 
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, prototype, and test new cooling solutions.
 
- Analyze and improve the overall performance of existing systems, focusing on energy consumption and sustainability.
 
- Support the scaling of R&D projects from concept to deployment, ensuring seamless integration with solar energy infrastructure.
 
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in renewable energy, refrigeration, and climate technology.
 
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
 
- Experience in the design, development, and testing of solar-powered systems, particularly in refrigeration or cooling technologies.
 
- Strong knowledge of energy-efficient refrigeration techniques, thermodynamics, and HVAC systems.
 
- Proven track record in managing R&D projects from concept to implementation.
 
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team environment.
 
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on sustainable and cost-effective solutions.
 
- Familiarity with international standards and best practices in renewable energy and sustainability.
 
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with solar energy storage systems and off-grid solutions.
 
- Knowledge of the agricultural value chain and the impact of post-harvest loss in Africa.
 
- Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools.
 
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
