Background information about the job or company:

To develop new crop varieties with desirable traits, identify genetic variations, analyze genetic data.

Responsibilities or duties:

  • Conducting comprehensive literature review and update literature of major crops
  • Collecting, introducing, conserving, characterizing and utilizing germplasm
  • Drawing up short-, mid- and long-term plant breeding goals
  • Designing plant breeding strategies
  • Planning and conducting experiments/studies
  • Developing grant proposals
  • Developing sustainable management practices

Qualifications or requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture (crop science option)
  • Master’s Degree in Plant Breeding, Genetics or Molecular Breeding
  • Minimum of three years demonstrated working experience
  • Proven record of publications in referred journals

Experience needed:

Minimum of three years
