Job purpose
To ensure the overall safety, security, and wellbeing of Ecobank staff, customers, and assets by effectively managing physical security, health and safety. The role oversees the implementation and maintenance of security systems including static guarding, CCTV, access control, fire and intruder alarms—and ensures compliance with Service Level Agreements to safeguard human and material assets. It further supports a healthy and safe work environment through preventive maintenance, workplace inspections, and adherence to established health and safety standards across all Ecobank premises.
In addition, this position is responsible for facilities operations across all premises and supports a healthy and safe work environment through preventive maintenance, workplace hygiene, and health and safety awareness programs. The officer will also manage power and building maintenance, mailroom operations, and vendor performance to guarantee business continuity, operational efficiency, and a secure, clean, and conducive work environment across all Ecobank branches and the Head Office.
Business and Financial performance
- Ensure efficient and cost-effective management of physical security and facilities to support Ecobank’s business operations and financial objectives.
- Monitor and manage budgets related to security, maintenance, and facilities, ensuring optimal use of resources in Liaison with Head EBS
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for maintenance and facility investments to guide management decisions.
- Drive savings initiatives under Ecobank Business Services (EBS) by identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost reductions.
- Ensure vendor contracts and SLAs deliver value for money while maintaining service quality
Customer Excellence
- Ensure all security and facility-related services are delivered seamlessly to support smooth customer service operations.
- Liaise with external security agencies and service providers to ensure quick response and minimal disruption to customer-facing operations.
- Ensure adequate insurance cover is maintained to protect customers, staff, and visitors against accidents or incidents on Bank premises in Liaison with Head EBS.
- Ensure a secure, clean, and comfortable environment for customers, staff, and visitors across all Bank premises.
Leadership and people management
- Supervise and monitor contracted security personnel to ensure professional conduct, alertness, and adherence to the Bank’s standards.
- Collaborate with HR to vet prospective and existing staff for security clearance as needed.
- Coordinate appointment and training of Fire Marshals, First Aiders, and Health & Safety Champions across the Head Office and branches.
- Conduct semi-annual training sessions for all staff to promote security, fraud prevention, and health and safety awareness.
- Foster teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement within the security and facilities teams.
Process, control and operational performance.
- Manage all aspects of physical security, including CCTV, access control, fire and intruder alarm systems, and static guarding, to ensure maximum protection of Bank assets.
- Conduct regular and annual security and fraud risk assessments, ensuring closure of identified vulnerabilities.
- Review and update physical access permissions periodically.
- Maintain accurate documentation for all goods exiting the Bank’s premises.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of daily, weekly, and monthly operational and incident reports.
- Implement a Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) program across all facilities to minimize downtime.
- Monitor vendor performance, ensuring adherence to agreed deliverables and performance metrics.
- Oversee preventive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades for buildings, equipment, and utilities to ensure consistent operational readiness.
- Ensure compliance with Ecobank’s EBS policy, statutory safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Integrate awareness into physical security protocols to safeguard sensitive information accessed in secured areas.
Strategic initiatives
- Provide technical and strategic input on the design and specifications of security and facility systems in new and refurbished premises.
- Identify emerging risks and propose solutions to strengthen physical and operational resilience.
- Champion implementation of safety, security, and wellbeing programs aligned with the Bank’s strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance business continuity and crisis response capability.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation in physical security and facility management practices.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in security management, Facilities Management, Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Security, Health & Safety, or Facilities Management is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in physical security and/or facilities management, preferably in a financial or corporate environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing service providers, contracts, budgets, and compliance obligations.
- Proven exposure to investigations, risk assessments, and security incident management.
