Description
Ruko Establishments Milk Factory is hiring a Stores Assistant to support the effective management of stores and warehouse operations, ensuring accurate receiving, storage, and issuing of materials and finished products. The role contributes to the Finance department’s inventory control processes by maintaining accurate stock records, proper documentation, and supporting compliance with financial, quality, and safety standards.
Duty Station: Kiruhura, Uganda
Reports to: Procurement and Logistics Officer
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in receiving, verifying, and recording incoming materials and finished goods.
- Organize and maintain storage areas to ensure easy access, cleanliness, and safety.
- Implement and follow FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation procedures.
- Support dispatch operations by preparing goods for delivery or internal transfers.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and assist in reconciling discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely data entry in stock records and systems.
- Monitor and report on stock levels, notifying supervisors of low inventory.
- Comply with safety, hygiene, and quality standards including ISO, HACCP, and GMP.
- Collaborate with the Stores and Logistics Officer to ensure efficient material flow in support of production and financial accountability.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in stores and inventory management in a manufacturing, logistics, or FMCG environment.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of inventory control and warehouse procedures.
- Familiarity with financial implications of stock handling and control.
- Knowledge of quality and safety standards (ISO, HACCP, GMP).
- Knowledge of SAP, Navision, and other ERP systems is a plus.
- Good organization and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and under minimal supervision.
- Computer literacy; proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Accuracy of inventory and stock records.
- Timeliness in stock receiving and issuing.
- Compliance with hygiene and safety protocols.
- Inventory shrinkage or stock loss rate.
- Responsiveness to internal requisitions.
- Accuracy in supporting financial stock reconciliations
