Coca-Cola Beverages Africa is the largest African Coca-Cola bottler, accounting for 40% of all Coca-Cola volumes on the continent. In Uganda, we are currently seeking to recruit a Team Leader-Packaging, based at at the Namanve Plant in Kampala.

Responsibilities or duties

As a Team Leader-Packaging, you will report directly to the Unit Manager, Packaging.

Key Purpose Statement

To lead and coordinate packaging operations to meet and exceed production performance targets in a highly productive manner, ensuring product quality, equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and team performance through effective execution, problem-solving, and adherence to safety, quality, and continuous improvement standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Production Performance & Process Optimization;Interpret and execute the production plan to achieve shift targets within operational budgets, coordinate autonomous maintenance and routine repairs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste, improve line efficiency, and optimize packaging yields.
  • Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving; Drive continuous improvement initiatives and structured problem-solving processes to eliminate losses, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Team Performance, Development & People Management; Drive performance management practices, cascade goals, and foster team effectiveness, maturity, and trust. Develop team capability through coaching, performance management, and targeted training while ensuring optimal staffing, resource deployment, and workforce availability to achieve operational objectives.
  • Safety, Health & Quality Compliance; Enforce Safety requirements, risk assessments, and housekeeping standards, and promptly stop and report unsafe conditions. Ensure compliance with Food Safety System Certification, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Coca-Cola quality standards across all packaging operations.
  • Administration, Documentation & Workforce Governance; Maintain accurate shift documentation and records, communicate operational updates, and ensure effective shift handovers to support compliance and operational continuity.
  • Comply with Business Systems (including SC Ways, Internal Quality and Food Safety systems as well as Coca-Cola requirements).;Drive maturity of the system through supply chain way work practices. Adhere to the food safety (FSSC) requirements and Quality standards at all levels (local, international and CCBU policy). Report any works or anyone that compromises quality and food safety on site.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

QUALIFICATIONS.

  • Minimum requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.

Experience needed

EXPERIENCE.

  • Minimum requirement: 3 years technical and leadership experience in a FMCG environment
  • Microsoft Systems Dynamics Experience is preferred.

COMPETENCIES.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and motivate teams for high performance and operational excellence.
  • Production Management: Manage packaging processes, production planning, and line performance optimization.
  • Maintenance & Continuous Improvement: Apply a deep understanding of maintenance practices, SC Work Practices, and WCM/TPM principles. Implement Lean Manufacturing methodologies focused on loss elimination.
  • Safety, Quality & Food Safety: Demonstrates a strong commitment to EOSH, quality, and food safety standards.
  • Analytical Thinking: Identify root causes, resolve operational issues, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Drive & Agility: Demonstrate a bias for action, initiative, self-management, and high flexibility.
  • Communication & Influencing: Builds strong relationships and aligns teams to achieve business objectives.
