Description

Autochek Africa is hiring a Vehicle Inspector responsible for conducting thorough and timely inspections of repossessed vehicles to assess their condition, identify damages, and assign accurate star ratings. The role ensures all vehicles are properly documented, uploaded to the VO+ Auction platform, and tracked across various dealer locations. The position also supports vehicle movements, sales, and offer coordination to ensure smooth operations within the Fleet and Recovery functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Vehicle Inspection and Assessment

  • Conduct complete inspections of all repossessed vehicles within 48 hours of repossession.
  • Identify and document all key damage areas to determine accurate star ratings.
  • Capture and upload clear, high-quality photographs to accompany inspection reports.
  • Ensure that all inspection standards are adhered to for consistency and accuracy.

2. Documentation and Reporting

  • Upload all inspected vehicle details and images on the VO+ Auction Platform promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date inspection records for reporting and audit purposes.

3. Vehicle Movement and Tracking

  • Coordinate and assist with the safe movement of vehicles to designated dealer locations.
  • Conduct regular sighting checks to confirm the presence and condition of repossessed vehicles at dealer premises.

4. Sales and Offer Support

  • Support the vehicle sales process by gathering offers, updating listings, and providing inspection reports.
  • Liaise with dealers and the commercial team to ensure all repo vehicles are sale-ready.

5. Operational Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Fleet, Recovery, and Sales teams to ensure the timely inspection, listing, and sale of repo vehicles.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements for inspection accuracy and turnaround time.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Completion of 100% of vehicle inspections within 48 hours post-repossession.
  • Accuracy and consistency of star ratings and inspection reports.
  • Timely upload of vehicles and supporting images on the VO+ Auction platform.
  • Effective tracking and documentation of repo vehicles at dealer locations.
  • Timely coordination and support in the vehicle sale and offer process.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, Transport & Logistics, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in vehicle inspection, fleet operations, or automotive valuation.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of vehicle mechanical and body systems.
  • Competence in identifying and assessing vehicle damages.
  • Familiarity with digital inspection and auction systems.

Soft Skills

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proactive and organized with good time management.
  • High integrity and ability to work independently.
