It manages Entebbe international Airport (EIA) and thirteen (13) other upcountry aerodromes. CAA carries out its work in conformity with international Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs). Reports To: Assistant Marine Officer

JOB PURPOSE: The purpose of the position is to assist in providing the Airports with Fire, Search, Marine and Rescue services in the case of marine related accidents or disasters.
The successful candidates will be trained in the following Principal Accountabilities:

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABlLITlES:-

Open Water/Fire Fighting and Prevention process

• Performs the assigned duties and responsibilities of a Marine Man with the required discipline.
  
• When assigned, will respond and perform his/her duties to all alarms and emergency calls.
  
• When assigned duties, he/she will ensure maintenance of all search and rescue appliances/equipment in the rescue amphibian vehicles and station is undertaken.
  
• While on duty or training programme, he/she will perform assigned work such as precautionary standbys on hazardous work operation, maintenance/cleaning of rescue boat and equipments.
  
• Participates in practical training exercises, lifesaving, water safety and full scale water emergency exercises.
  
• Performs the duties and responds/operates fire alarm dispatcher while on duty as assigned by the Assistant Marine ofiicer.
  
• Participates in all in-house training and practical exercises during the physical training.
  
• Will perform related work as required by the Assistant Marine Officer or other superiors.
  
• While on duty, is mandatorily obliged to follow the safety rules, regulations and policies of the Aerodrome Open Water/Fire Fighting/Marine Rescue Services procedures.
  

EDUCATION
Five credits at ‘O’ level two of which should be in English and Mathematics plus an ‘A’ level Certificate or Ordinary Diploma.

EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of marine rescue services or boat handling or nursing is an added advantage.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Must be mentally and physically fit.
  
• Must pass the CAA physical test.
  
• Background in open water life saving and diving will be an advantage.
  
• Must pass the CAA physical test.
