Job Purpose:
To support the department in ensuring proper financial management and accountability for
the available resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. To assist in computing and processing staff claims on a timely basis and at proper rates.
  2. To assist in the preparation of bank reconciliation for the given bank accounts.
  3. To generate relevant information for the day-to-day management and decision making.
  4. To post data on an Information System, subsidiary ledgers and eventually to the general ledger.
  5. To maintain student revenue ledgers.
  6. To participate in the preparation of payables account aging report reconciled to the general ledger and make reconciled balances in the payable account against suppliers’ and service providers’ claims.
  7. To liaise with the Procurement & Disposal department on a periodic basis to ensure that MHS meets the required credit period.
  8. To participate in tracking the status of business advances and ensure timely accountability.
  9. To maintain and update all required financial records including cashbooks and ledgers.
  10. To provide support to the Internal and External Audit of MHS’s Annual Financial Statements and any other audit work that will be undertaken from time to time.
  11. To participate in the budget preparation process.
  12. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Accountant or superior officer in the department.

Qualifications & Work Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s (Hon) degree in Business Administration (BBA) with a bias in accounting and finance or Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting or Finance Option), or Bachelor of Accounting or Finance.
  1. Possession of a minimum of Level two (2) of any relevant professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or CPA is a requirement.
  2. At least two (2) years’ work experience at the level of Accountant in a busy public or reputable private organization.

Key Competences:

  • Interpersonal relationship and management skills.
  • Should be computer literate with strong knowledge of modern computer accounting packages.
  • Ability to embrace change management.
  • He/she should be a person of high integrity.
  • A self-driven individual.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal relations skills.
  • He/she should be a team player.
