The New Vision Printing and Publishing Company Ltd is looking to recruit a dynamic, self motivated individual to fill the role of a Camera Person.

Job Purpose:

Shoot and deliver quality footage in line with Vision Group TV and broadcast standards.

Key Result Areas:

  • Shoot/film/collect footage for television and multimedia production purposes and submit to relevant producers or Video Editors.
    • Attend pre-production meetings to get a brief on activities to be engaged in.
    • Assist in determining equipment needed by producers to gather proper content.
    • Assist producers while in the field to gather footage in line with the TV standards of operation.
    • Submit and store footage in prescribed formats and locations.
  • Train reporters and other relevant staff members on how to operate professional video cameras.
  • Ensure proper handling and maintenance of your equipment, by;
    • Cleaning equipment daily and charge camera batteries
    • Maintain a log of the status of your equipment
    • Ensure proper storage and care of equipment.

Education and Professional qualifications:

  • Diploma in Journalism and any other relevant qualification.

Working Experience:

  • Three years of proven experience in camera operations.

Communications and working relations:

  • Senior Producer /Presenters /Producers for preparation and actual shooting
  • Multimedia Journalists to plan and execute assignments.

Scope of Impact:

  • The camera person’s job illustrates the content. It helps audiences understand the gravity of an event because seeing is believing. Provide graphical details and dimension to a story. (Aesthetics)
  • Evidence captured on lens, the photograph tells it all. It saves the company on libel cases and costs in court battles.

Technical competences:

  • Ability to operate professional video cameras and filming equipment.
  • Photography skills and appreciation
  • Basic computer skills: Adobe Editing Suites
  • Good communication skills
  • Editing
  • Ability to troubleshoot.

Behavioral competences:

  • Creative and innovative
  • Flexibility
  • Proactive.
  • Team player
  • Attention to detail.
  • Physical fitness
  • Willingness to travel and work for long hours
