Job Overview

Objective:

To identify applicable environmental regulations and risks and ensuring conformance of staff to EHS Policies and Management System

Key Responsibility:

  • Draft, implement and maintain policies and guidelines on Environment, Health and Safety.
  • Develop, implement, administer, and maintain EHS protocol of use of PPEs and adherence to safety and health related programs.
  • Review and update the corporate EHS management system manual and monitor its implementation
  • Prepare EHS training plan and in coordination with the Human Resource Department provide relevant training to staff.
  • Formulating corporate short term and long term EHS objectives and plans
  • Carry out accident and incident investigations.
  • Promote EHS plans and monitor, evaluate and report performance against plan
  • Maintain auditing expertise and ensure execution of the quarterly audit program
  • Maintain contacts with external parties regarding environment, Health and Safety, including government institutions.
  • Provide advice on Environment, Health and safety to line departments
  • Promote the potential incident reporting culture by compiling all filled in reports
  • Adhere to the health and safety and QMS guidelines at all times.
  • Compile EHS data and report all reportable incidents to HOD accurately and within specified time frame.
  • Any other duties assigned by the SHEQ Manager

Authority & Independence

The EHS Officer has full authority delegated by the SHEQ Manager as per the requirements, duties and responsibility of the job

Work Conditions

  • The work may involve constant movements to different locations out of office.
  • May require working for long hours.
  • May require constant visits to plants

Physical & Mental Efforts

  • Must be mentally stable to contain stress and pressure.
  • Must be of a sound mind.
  • Must be of sound health.
  • Sensory stability due to much concentration required for the job

Education Qualifications & Experience

  • BSc Environmental Science or BSc Industrial Chemistry and any other related discipline.
  • Knowledge of various laws, regulations, guidelines, procedures affecting a manufacturing organization.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in a similar field is required

Skills & Competences

  • Ability to work independently in carrying out assignments to completion
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Professional personal presentation
  • Customer service orientation skills.
  • Considerable ability to adhere to prescribed routines and practices; and compose effective and accurate correspondence
  • Dealing with non-routine matters, such as special projects, with minimum specific instructions
  • Familiarity with the tools, concepts and methodologies of system management.
  • Decision making skills is required.
