MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To support the development of investment projects through economic analysis, due diligence, and preliminary reviews. The Economist provides essential insights that guide investment decisions and ensure compliance with the organization’s policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Preliminary Reviews and Economic Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of project preliminary reviews by providing input on economic trends and market conditions, ensuring thorough and accurate analysis in review reports.
- Participate in meetings with project promoters to gather information on potential investment opportunities.
- Conduct economic analysis to identify potential risks in investment projects.
- Conduct field visits to collect data and assist in assessing the viability and potential impact of proposed projects.
Due Diligence and Investment Appraisal
- Conduct initial due diligence and analysis for proposed projects, under the guidance of Senior Economist.
- Review reports from consultants and provide feedback to ensure investment decisions are based on sound economic analysis.
- Assist in evaluating cost-benefit analyses and verifying the accuracy of valuation models and sensitivity analyses.
Preparation of Research and Policy Papers
- Conduct research, collect data and assist in preparing policy papers related to organisational activities and objectives.
- Contribute to the writing and preparation of research papers and policy documents for internal use and publication.
Other Duties
- As guided by your supervisors, collaborate with and support the BDS Unit, Appraisal, Implementation and Post Implementation Departments, Legal and Finance, and other Directorates to ensure the effective project development, appraisal and successful implementation and post-implementation of projects.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, commerce, business administration, statistics or any related field.

- Four (4) years of experience in a similar function.
