Responsibilities or duties

As an Education Officer, you will help expand access to quality education, skills development, and opportunities that empower girls and boys to reach their full potential. Working closely with communities, schools, local governments, and partners, you will contribute to creating inclusive pathways from learning to earning, helping young people overcome barriers, build resilience, and shape brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

Minimum requirements

Education: Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Education, Economics, Sociology, or another related field is required.

Skills: Strong communication, planning, results-focused, partnership-building, education expertise, and capacity-building skills are required.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.

Desirables

Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Experience in leading programmes on girls’ education, including school support programmes with performance-based interventions, is an asset.

Experience working with local governments and school-level stakeholders in education is desirable.

Experience with cash transfer programmes and donor reporting is desirable.

Experience coordinating with education partners at the field level is an asset.

Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is an asset.

Experience working in a developing country would be an advantage.

Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

Experience needed

At least two years of relevant work experience in adolescent development, education programme planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, adolescent-focused programme management, partnership development, grant management, capacity building, resource mobilization, inter-agency coordination, or a related field is required.
