The Electrician is responsible for installation of electrical components as directed and maintenance of existing connections, troubleshooting electrical failures as need arises. The position holder will manage the shop business and operational areas under the rules, regulations and guidelines of Biyinzika Poultry Uganda Limited while ensuring the accomplishment of goals and targets given by management.

Key position responsibilities

• Install electrical elements to machinery at the factories and farms and other BPUL locations, including lights and other electrical equipment.
• Maintain existing electrical machinery at all BPUL locations as per the set maintenance schedule.
• Troubleshoot and investigate any electrical problems or challenges at company sites.
• Report any identified electrical problems or challenges at the various BPUL locations.
• Resolve problems as cost effectively as possible.
• Provide support in machine operation at the factories.
• Work to a professional standard.
• Adhere to the health and safety guidelines.
• Carry out new installations.
• Develop scope of work, budgeting and planning.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications, skills & experience

• Minimum of Certificate in Electrical Engineering/ installation or related field or proven ability.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a similar role in a busy commercial environment.
• Knowledge of electrical operations.
• Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy.
• Highly organized and flexible.
• Ability to multi-task and meet changing deadlines.
• Must be self-directed and able to complete tasks with limited supervision.
• Ability to work long hours.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Team collaboration.
• Problem solving skills.
