Job Title: Employee Relations Lead

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: Group Human Resource Business Partner

Geographical Scope: Supports Q-Sourcing’s multi-country operations across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan

Role Summary

The Employee Relations Lead serves as the specialist for all employee relations matters across Q-Sourcing’s multi-country operations, ensuring compliance with labour laws, managing complex employee cases, and maintaining positive workplace relationships. The role is responsible for designing employee relations frameworks, tools, and processes, and overseeing their implementation across the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage employee relations cases and workplace investigations.

Provide labour law compliance and advisory services across five countries.

Manage disciplinary processes and investigations.

Oversee grievance handling and resolution procedures.

Manage and review employment contracts.

Coordinate legal liaison and court representation.

Design, develop, interpret, and provide guidance on HR policies to the business.

Support workplace conflict resolution and mediation.

Support union relations and collective bargaining processes where applicable

Deliver employment law updates and training.

Conduct risk assessments for employee relations matters.

Maintain documentation and records for legal compliance.

Provide advisory support to line managers on people issues.

Coordinate and analyze exit interviews.

Required Experience and Qualifications

Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Law, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.

Postgraduate qualifications in Human Resource Management, Employment Law, Industrial Relations, or Labour Relations will be an added advantage.

Professional HR certification or membership with a recognized HR professional body is desirable.

Training or certification in mediation, workplace investigations, dispute resolution, labour law, or employee relations practice will be an added advantage.

Experience Required;

Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ progressive experience in human resources, employee relations, industrial relations, labour law compliance, or a related HR advisory role.

Demonstrated experience managing disciplinary processes, grievances, investigations, employee disputes, and sensitive workplace cases.

Experience working in a multi-country or multi-site environment, preferably within East Africa.

Practical experience interpreting labour laws, HR policies, employment contracts, and workplace procedures.

Experience preparing employee relations reports, dashboards, trackers, case summaries, and management recommendations.

Experience engaging with legal counsel, labour officers, external advisors, unions, employee representatives, and senior business stakeholders.

Multi-jurisdictional labour law knowledge covering Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

Employment tribunal and court procedures.

Workplace investigations, disciplinary management, grievance handling, and due process.

Conflict resolution, mediation techniques, and employee relations advisory support.

Policy development, interpretation, implementation, and compliance monitoring.

Employee relations reporting, including preparation of periodic reports on disciplinary cases, grievances, investigations, litigation matters, policy compliance, and employee relations risks.

Development and maintenance of employee relations dashboards, trackers, and case registers to support visibility of trends, timelines, risk levels, and resolution status across countries.

Analysis of employee relations data to identify recurring issues, root causes, hotspots, compliance gaps, case turnaround times, and emerging workplace risks.

Preparation of management insights and recommendations based on employee relations analytics to support informed decision-making, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.

Monitoring exit interview outcomes, disciplinary trends, grievance patterns, absenteeism-related concerns, and workplace conflict indicators to advise management on preventive actions.

Documentation management and audit readiness, ensuring that employee relations records, investigation reports, disciplinary files, legal correspondence, and case outcomes are properly maintained.

Stakeholder reporting and advisory support to HR leadership, line managers, legal counsel, and country teams on sensitive employee relations matters.
