Heifer International is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to end hunger, poverty, and care for the earth through sustainable agricultural practices. It has been operating in Uganda since 1982 to date.
Heifer International in collaboration with the Moir Foundation invites Uganda-registered non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and/or Social Enterprise entities to express interest to serve as the Coordinator for the Distributed Renewable Energy Ecosystem Models (DREEDs Hub Initiative in Uganda from January 2026 to 30th June 2027).
The DREED Hub project is a multistakeholder initiative (2024-2027) aimed at mobilizing a diverse network of partners to deliver climate change solutions (particularly productive use of solar energy services – PUSE) through providing global-based approach. In the first year, the project targeted 1,500 farmers and provided PUSE that, jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities to 1000 underserved youth and women entrepreneurs across the value chain in four daily farmer cooperatives in Nakaeske District and supported the national ecosystem to advance PUSE.
Heifer International will partner with the selected organisation to accelerate the gains from this initiative.
The coordinator shall among other roles support to facilitate business skills development, provide entrepreneurship development services, innovate sustainable financing, drive adoption of PUSE for community livelihood improvement, and provide ecosystem coordination and support services for key agricultural value chains in Uganda.
Be legally registered in Uganda and operational for at least 8 years.
Strong institutional governance structure and program management capacity.
Experience in solar energy, agriculture, and rural development.
Demonstrate capacity in PUSE ecosystem stakeholders, coordination, project management, and policy engagement in addition to a demonstration track record of excellence in one or more of the following PUSE: focus areas: skilled workforce development, sustainable financing, entrepreneurship development, and PUSE-based community livelihood improvement.
Have experience working with development partners, NGOs, and government.
Have a multidisciplinary team with experience in renewable energy, agriculture, policy, and financing.
Pass Heifer International global background checks on money, laundering and terrorism and be compliant to tax and other statutory obligations in Uganda.
