LWI UGANDA PROGRAM
LWI Uganda is an affiliate of Living Water International, a Christian International NGO with its Headquarters in Houston Texas, USA. In Uganda, LWI implements an integrated WASH program in Southwestern and Eastern Uganda. LWI Uganda has been operating in Uganda since 2009 providing access to safe clean water, Church and Community Mobilization, Sanitation and Hygiene services to communities and building capacity of communities in operation & maintenance of wells for sustainability.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
LWI Uganda is seeking a passionate, experienced, engaged, and competent Ugandan professional to fill the position of Finance Manager. The position is a senior leadership responsible for ensuring sound financial management, compliance with donor and organisational policies, and effective support to programmes and operations. This position reports report to the Country Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management & Accounting
- Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant financial records with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Manage daily finance operations including cash disbursements, receipts, banking, and statutory tax payments.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and monthly financial reports.
- Monitor and report on project and country office income and expenditure.
- Lead budget preparation, implementation, and ongoing budget monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with Living Water International and donor financial policies and regulations.
- Maintain and manage computerized accounting systems, including QuickBooks.
- Strengthen internal controls, manage financial risk, and continuously improve financial procedures.
- Prepare for and coordinate internal and external audits and respond to audit findings.
- Ensure timely financial support for programme implementation and operational needs.
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise finance staff and, where required, administrative and support staff.
- Provide financial guidance and timely advice to the Country Director.
- Promote accountability, integrity, and stewardship across the organisation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Professional qualification in ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is highly recommended.
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in financial and grants management, preferably within NGOs or donor-funded organisations.
- Proven experience supervising staff.
- Strong and practical knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, internal controls, and grants compliance requirements.
- Practical experience with accounting systems including QuickBooks and strong advanced Excel skills.
