The Gender, Safeguarding and Inclusion Officer is responsible for promoting gender equality, safeguarding, disability inclusion and social inclusion across Omia Agribusiness' operations, programs, and partnerships. The role ensures that staff, farmers, project participants, volunteers, interns, contractors, community members, and other stakeholders are protected from harm, exploitation, abuse, discrimination, and exclusion while supporting the integration of gender-responsive and inclusive approaches into organizational policies, programs, business operations, and community engagement.
Responsibilities or duties
Key Result Areas
Gender Equality and Women's Economic Empowerment (25%)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the integration of gender-responsive approaches across organizational projects and operations.
- Promote equitable participation of women, men, youth, and marginalized groups in Omia Agribusiness initiatives.
- Support project teams to identify and address gender-related barriers affecting participation and access to services.
- Develop strategies that enhance women's economic empowerment and leadership within agricultural value chains.
- Conduct gender analyses to inform project design and implementation.
- Monitor gender outcomes across organizational Operations.
- Support collection and reporting of sex-disaggregated data with support of the MEL manager.
- Promote gender-sensitive communication and organizational practices.

2. 1. Safeguarding and Protection (25%)
Key Responsibilities.
- Lead the implementation of the organization's safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of zero tolerance for sexual exploitation, abuse, harassment, bullying, child abuse and all forms of violence.
- Conduct safeguarding risk assessments for projects and organizational activities.
- Ensure safeguarding measures are integrated into project implementation.
- Coordinate safeguarding awareness and training for staff, volunteers, contractors, and partners.
- Support confidential reporting and referral of safeguarding concerns in accordance with organizational procedures.
- Monitor safeguarding compliance across branches and projects.
- Maintain safeguarding incident records while ensuring confidentiality.
- Support investigations of safeguarding concerns where required.

1. Disability and Social Inclusion (20%)
Key Responsibilities
- Promote the meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in organizational Operations and services.
- Identify barriers limiting participation of persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups.
- Support development of accessible and inclusive Operations approaches.
- Advise departments on reasonable accommodation for staff and participants where appropriate.
- Promote inclusive communication, meetings, training, and community engagement.
- Monitor inclusion indicators across organizational activities.
- Build staff capacity on disability inclusion and inclusive Operations.
- Promote inclusive employment and service delivery practices.

4. Partnerships and Community Engagement (5%)
Key Responsibilities
- Build relationships with government institutions, disability organizations, women's organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Represent Omia Agribusiness on Gender, Safeguarding and Inclusion matters.
- Promote community awareness on gender equality, safeguarding and disability inclusion.
- Support partnerships that strengthen inclusive agricultural development.

Qualifications or requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Gender Studies, Social Work and Social Administration, Community Development, Development Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Human Rights, Law or another relevant field.
- A postgraduate qualification in Gender, Safeguarding or Social Protection is an added advantage.
Experience needed
Experience
- Minimum of three years' relevant experience in gender equality, safeguarding, protection, disability inclusion or social development.
- Experience working with donor-funded programmes is highly desirable.
- Experience in agricultural or rural development programmes is an added advantage.
- Experience facilitating training and community engagement.
