Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Supply Chain Coordinator, Supply Chain Trainee based in Jinja Office will support the Supply Chain team in procurement, logistics, inventory management, fleet coordination, vendor management, and contract administration while gaining practical experience in supply chain operations. The trainee will work under close supervision and progressively develop the technical, and professional competencies required for a successful career in supply chain management.
At Water Mission, the Supply Chain trainee is responsible for developing a biblical worldview culture that leads to God-honoring excellence in all work and commits to providing the following: accurate data, developing the skills and mindset needed to acknowledge mistakes or problems as opportunities to find appropriate solutions and work consistently for excellence in solutions that are consistent with Water Mission’s mission, vision, values, and standards.
The Supply Chain Trainee will: -
General Responsibilities:
- Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
Other responsibilities
Procurement
- Assist in preparing request for quotation (RFQs) and Purchase Orders (POs).
- Support the solicitation and collection of supplier quotations and other procurement documents.
- Participate in bid analysis and supplier evaluations.
- Ensure procurement documentation is complete and properly uploaded to procurement system.
- Follow organizational procurement policies and procedures.
- Track procurement requests and provide status updates.
Logistics
- Assist in coordinating deliveries and transportation.
- Support tracking of shipments and delivery schedules.
- Help maintain fixed asset and equipment records.
Inventory Management
- Assist with receiving, inspecting, and recording goods.
- Support regular stock counts and inventory reconciliations.
- Help maintain accurate inventory records.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of inventory.
- Report damaged or obsolete items.
Learning and Development.
- Participate in training sessions and departmental meetings.
- Learn organizational procurement systems and ERP software.
- Develop knowledge of donor compliance requirements and organizational policies.
- Take part in continuous improvement initiatives within the Supply Chain department.
What is required?
- Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
- Impeccable level of integrity in handling procurements or funds in an accountable and transparent manner.
- A university degree in procurement, Supply Chain Management, logistics, business administration with Supply Chain Option or related field is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including articulating ideas and feedback constructively.
- Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Qualified Jinja candidates are encouraged to apply
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Zero tolerance towards corruption, encompassing all forms of conflicts of interest, bribery, fraud, and any other manifestations of corrupt behavior.
