Job Purpose

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas while supporting efficient kitchen operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of food preparation and storage areas.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste and garbage.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies.
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and report shortages.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Support kitchen staff during busy operational periods.
  • Clean kitchen floors, walls, refrigerators, and storage areas.
  • Assist with inventory management when required.
  • Observe occupational health and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A certificate in Catering, Hospitality, or a related field is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good teamwork and organizational skills.
  • Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods.
