Job Summary

The Laboratory Assistant supports laboratory operations by collecting and preparing specimens, assisting with diagnostic procedures, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate record keeping while adhering to laboratory quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

• Receive, label, and prepare patient specimens for analysis.
• Assist in conducting routine laboratory tests under supervision.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness and proper organization.
• Ensure laboratory equipment and supplies are properly maintained.

Documentation

• Record laboratory results accurately.
• Maintain laboratory registers and patient records.
• Assist in inventory management and stock monitoring.

Quality & Safety

• Follow laboratory safety procedures and infection prevention protocols.
• Ensure proper disposal of laboratory waste.
• Report equipment faults and unusual findings promptly.

Minimum Qualifications

• Certificate or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, Laboratory Science, or a related field.

Experience

• Previous experience in a clinical laboratory is an added advantage.
