Core Focus: Legal Research, Writing & Case Preparation

Legal Research: Conduct thorough research on Ugandan statutes (e.g., the Judicature Act, Civil Procedure Rules, Penal Code Act), case law, and precedents using legal databases and law reports to support pending litigation and transactional matters.

Drafting Legal Documents: Prepare drafts of routine legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, notices of motion, contracts, and letters of demand for review by senior attorneys.

Case File Preparation: Organize, paginate, and index evidentiary documents, witness statements, and exhibit bundles for court submissions and trial binders.

Court Registry Liaison: File court documents (plaints, applications, memoranda of appearance) at the High Court, Magistrates Courts, and other tribunals; track filing receipts and return dates.

Due Diligence Support: Assist in conducting due diligence searches at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), land offices, and other registries for property or company transactions.

Summarizing Depositions & Records: Read and summarize transcripts of proceedings, lengthy contracts, or police statements to extract key facts and legal issues for the legal team.

Statute & Regulation Monitoring: Track recent legislative changes, practice directions, and Supreme Court or Court of Appeal decisions relevant to the firm's practice areas and circulate summaries to associates.
