Soroti University is a Public University in Uganda located in Soroti City, Eastern Uganda Seven (7) kilometres along Soroti-Katakwi- Moroto Road. The University Secretary hereby invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant posts listed below that exist in the University.

Purpose of the Job

To conduct high-quality research and teach undergraduate students as appropriate.

Person Specifications

• 1. PhD in Electrical Engineering from a recognized Institution/ University.
• 2. Master’s Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a bias in Power Engineering.
• 3. Honours Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from a recognized Institution/University.
• 4. At least two (2) years’ teaching at the level of Assistant Lecturer in an Institution of Higher Learning or two (2) years of research in a reputable organization.
• 5. Evidence of research in the relevant field with at least two (2) newly recognized publications within the last five years in peer-reviewed journals or book chapters with ISBN Numbers.
• 6. Should have excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills.
• 7. Should have proven ability to conduct scholarly research.
• 8. Should be computer literate.
• 9. Should have the ability to work in a team and create network among colleagues.
• 10. Teaching experience gained from a recognized institution of higher learning will be an added advantage.
• 11. Should have a good track record of service to the public.

Duties and Responsibilities

• a) To guide and advise students on their academic performance and answer their queries on academic issues.
• b) To participate in the supervision of practicals.
• c) To conduct research in areas of specialization and disseminate the research findings.
• d) To supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking research projects.
• e) To organize, attend and conduct seminars and relevant training.
• f) To set tests, examinations and course work according to University standards and policies.
• g) To mark tests and examinations scripts according to approved grading standards of the University.
• h) To contribute to the University and wider society through community service.

Key Outputs

• (i) Lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students conducted.
• (ii) Students guided and advised on their academic performance.
• (iii)Practicals for students supervised.
• (iv) Research in areas of specialization among the communities conducted and findings disseminated.
• (v) Students undertaking research supervised and mentored.
• (vi) Seminars and relevant training organized, conducted and attended.
• (vii) Tests, examinations and course works set.
• (viii) Tests and examinations scripts and results compiled.
• (ix) Community service to the University and wider society carried out.
