Background
Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) is a private-not-for-profit Company under Makerere University. MJAP works to build partnerships and strengthen health systems to optimally respond to HIV/AIDS, TB, Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and other diseases of public health importance in Africa.
MJAP is currently implementing a sub-award from Reach Out Mbuya (ROM) under the Kampala Region HIV Mechanism, funded by President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), aimed at accelerating HIV epidemic control.
Responsibilities
- To determine the suitable database and analysis software; enter data that is used to generate weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for MJAP activities in accordance with MOH guidelines and procedures
- Receive and review raw data on the different program activities on a daily basis
- Enter data into the appropriate program databases including Uganda EMR and prevention tracker on daily basis according to the approved format.
- Compile Program and Ministry of Health reports and submit in different reporting systems including DHIS2 and Prevention tracker
- Back up data and ensure security of the different databases used for data entry on a daily basis in line with the data security procedures.
- Provide on-going support to the data collectors/health workers in proper data collection and documentation procedures.
- Conduct simple analysis on MJAP activities and document brief reports on weekly and monthly basis to inform the development of quarterly reports for the various stakeholders.
- Create data cleaning queries to free data from any anomalies according to the data analysis procedures.
Qualifications and job requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, information management systems, Economics, Information Technology, Computer Science or related from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in data management in PEPFAR funded projects/Organizations
- Strong analytical and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team, assess priorities, and manage multiple activities with attention to detail.
- Excellent cross-cultural communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills demonstrated by ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff, stakeholders, clients and consultants
