Smart Applications International (Uganda) Ltd is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified, dynamic, and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Medical Data Executive.

Position: Medical Data Executive

Department: EDS

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

Job Purpose

The Medical Data Executive will be responsible for enhancing clinical data quality, completeness, compliance, and analytics to support better clinical experiences and informed decision-making for medical scheme administrators and key healthcare stakeholders.

The role will also support the effective implementation and use of healthcare information systems, clinical data standards, and medical automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive initiatives that enhance the quality, accuracy, and completeness of clinical data.
  • Monitor and evaluate clinical data compliance and accuracy.
  • Define and apply clinical data standards and support data comparison and analysis.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and meaningful reports, memoranda, presentations, and other documentation.
  • Promote Smart’s medical automation technologies, solutions, and services, including supporting lead generation and revenue growth.
  • Keep management informed of emerging trends, advances, and best practices in healthcare informatics.
  • Ensure strict adherence to data privacy requirements and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Support the implementation of medical coding and clinical standards, including ICD-10/11, CPT, SNOMED, and other relevant standards.
  • Act as a liaison between Smart and key stakeholders within the clinical data and healthcare ecosystem.
  • Analyse available healthcare data to generate meaningful insights and identify healthcare trends.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve clinical data processes and system performance.

Academic & Professional Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Health Records and Information Management/Health Informatics, Health Information Management Systems, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Registration with the relevant professional/regulatory authority.
  • At least 1–2 years’ experience in medical operations and/or clinical data management.
