Applicants should be Ugandans holding; EITHER (i) An Honors Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology; or Atmospheric Science from a recognized University/Institution. OR (i) An Honors Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics; or Mathematics; or Statistics; or Hydrology; or Computer Science; or Agriculture plus a Post-Graduate Diploma in Meteorology from a recognized University/Institution.
Working Experience
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Meteorologist for performing the following duties:-
- Analyzing meteorological data and preparing statistical summaries for Agro Meteorology, Climatology and Hydrometeorology;
- Publishing bulletins for Agro Meteorology, Climatology and Hydrometeorology;
- Undertaking research;
- Analyzing surface and upper air charts, tephigrams, satellite and radar products;
- Studying and assimilating weather information including surface data and preparing forecasts;
- Developing computer programs for data management and forecasting;
- Validating and updating the main data base and archiving digitized data;
- Analyzing meteorological products for users;
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
