Dalilang Foods & Beverages is a Ugandan FMCG manufacturer producing packaged snacks, including potato crisps, gonja chips, coated peanuts and peanut butter, alongside spring water, fruit nectars and energy drinks.

Job Description

Inspect incoming delivery trucks of raw agricultural commodities including potatoes, plantains, and peanuts to safeguard raw material standards before acceptance.

Perform moisture testing, physical sizing, defect analysis, and fungal contamination screening to prevent non conforming ingredients from entering the production process.

Protect operational food safety and quality compliance by maintaining rigorous receiving inspection records, managing containment of deviations, and supporting audit readiness.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming deliveries of potatoes, plantains, and peanuts for moisture content, sizing, physical defects, and fungal contamination using established sampling plans.
  • Verify that inspection tools, standards, reference materials, and testing equipment are properly calibrated and suitable before recording results.
  • Identify, document, and quarantine non conforming agricultural materials immediately to prevent unapproved intake into storage or processing lines.
  • Exercise independent release authority to accept or reject incoming materials strictly against technical quality criteria without compromising for intake targets.
  • Maintain legible, accurate, and fully traceable receiving logs, checklists, and inspection reports for every delivery batch.
  • Escalate repeated deviations, significant safety hazards, or suspected severe contamination to QC supervisors without delay.
  • Participate in root cause analyses alongside cross functional partners and assist in verifying corrective actions on raw material quality failures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit ready receiving inspection area compliant with occupational safety, food hygiene, and UNBS regulatory requirements.

  • Moisture testing and defect detection protocols.
  • Technical quality judgement and sampling execution.
  • Objective evidence recording and non conformance reporting.
  • Basic digital literacy for data entry and official inspection logging.

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, Higher Diploma, Ordinary Diploma, National Diploma, or equivalent technical laboratory qualification in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or Food Science.
  • Acceptable qualifications also include Food Science and Technology, Food Processing Technology, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Laboratory Science, Environmental Health, Public Health, Quality Management, Packaging Technology, Chemical Engineering, or closely related applied science disciplines.
  • Certifications in HACCP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, food safety, internal auditing, or laboratory quality are advantageous.

Experience

  • No prior work experience required.
  • Includes 2 weeks of intensive raw material grading and quality inspection onboarding training.
