Job Summary

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of key activities for the BUVD outbreak response, ensuring timely and effective response measures in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, district health authorities, and other partners. The Project Coordinator will oversee field teams, support reporting and communication, and ensure that project objectives are achieved in a systematic and timely manner. This position will play a vital role in mobilizing resources, monitoring project progress, and coordinating surge capacity for the outbreak response.

Overall Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Implementation:

  • Coordinate day-to-day implementation of BUVD response activities at national, regional, and district levels.
  • Work closely with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with the national BUVD Preparedness and Response Plan.
  • Ensure effective mobilization and deployment of technical staff, including epidemiologists, RCCE officers, and other surge personnel.
  • Facilitate the establishment of functional Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) in priority districts.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

  • Track project milestones and timelines to ensure timely implementation of activities.
  • Regularly collect, analyze, and report surveillance and project data, ensuring the accuracy and quality of information shared with the team, stakeholders, and donors.
  • Support the preparation of situation reports, progress updates, and other documentation to inform decision-making.
  • Work with M&E officers to ensure data-driven project adjustments and evidence-based decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Liaise with district health teams, Ministry of Health officials, and other key partners to ensure coordination and harmonization of outbreak response activities.
  • Facilitate district task force (DTF) meetings and partner coordination efforts to streamline outbreak management.
  • Support the dissemination of best practices and lessons learned from the Mpox response to national and international stakeholders.

Logistics and Resource Management:

  • Ensure the timely procurement and delivery of supplies, including PPE, communication materials, and surveillance tools, to support the outbreak response.
  • Assist in managing budgets and financial reporting to ensure project expenditures are aligned with the approved budget.
  • Coordinate the logistics of training sessions, workshops, and field activities across the regions.

Risk Communication & Community Engagement (RCCE):

  • Coordinate the deployment of RCCE officers to priority districts for community engagement, public education, and addressing misinformation.
  • Facilitate the development and dissemination of risk communication messages and educational materials to healthcare workers and communities.
  • Engage local leaders, influencers, and health workers to ensure community participation in the response.

Surge Capacity Coordination:

  • Oversee the deployment of technical surge staff (epidemiologists, M&E officers, RCCE officers) to priority regions and ensure they are effectively supported in their roles.
  • Facilitate capacity-building efforts, including the training of regional and district rapid response teams (RRTs and DRRTs) on Mpox case investigation, contact tracing, and surveillance.

Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:

  • Masters in Public Health or related degree
  • Training in Applied Epidemiology/Field epidemiology is an added advantage
  • Experience in project management
  • Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
  • 5 Years working experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in project coordination or management, preferably in a health emergency or outbreak response setting.
  • Previous experience working with Ministries of Health, district health authorities, health systems strengthening, or donor-funded projects.
  • 5 Years Relevant Experience
