Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring our QHSE policies and programs to ensure compliance with all applicable legal requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Regulation: Ensure all company operations comply with national QHSE legislation and international standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Risk Management: Conduct regular site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments to minimize workplace accidents and environmental impact.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into all incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Training & Development: Coordinate and deliver QHSE training, inductions, and workshops to educate employees and contractors on safety protocols and quality standards.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all QHSE activities, incidents, and audits. Prepare and submit regular performance reports to senior management.
- Emergency Preparedness: Assist in the development, maintenance, and testing of emergency response plans.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and improve product/service quality control processes to ensure compliance with company standards and client expectations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a QHSE role, preferably within the transportation, logistics sector.
- Strong knowledge of Ugandan QHSE laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with safety management software is a plus.
