Job Description

Lead end to end direct farm sourcing and contract negotiations with farmer cooperatives and commercial outgrowers across Uganda for crops including potatoes, gonja, and peanuts.

Secure reliable raw agricultural supplies that satisfy company quality, safety, and operational timelines while optimizing total acquisition costs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Negotiate supply agreements, pricing, and delivery terms directly with farmer cooperatives and commercial outgrowers for potatoes, gonja, and peanuts.

Appraise incoming crop quality, condition, batch details, and specifications to prevent substandard or contaminated produce from entering production.

Track agricultural market price trends and supplier capacity to optimize buying decisions and maintain reliable supply schedules.

Verify produce quantities, physical condition, and documentation at receiving points, promptly investigating and reporting variances.

Enforce proper storage, segregation, and rotation rules such as FIFO to safeguard agricultural stock against moisture, spoilage, mixing, or damage.

Maintain complete, traceable records for all purchases, supplier receipts, quality appraisals, and stock transactions across physical logs and electronic systems.

Coordinate with production and inventory teams to align crop delivery schedules with factory capacity and prevent stockouts.

Follow all occupational health, food safety, and environmental protection guidelines, reporting any safety hazards or quality non conformances immediately.

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree, Higher Diploma, Ordinary Diploma, or National Diploma in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Crop Science, Agricultural Economics, Extension, Horticulture, Post Harvest, or related agricultural disciplines.

Bachelor's Degree, Higher Diploma, Ordinary Diploma, National Diploma, or Certificate in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Stores Management, Inventory Management, Warehousing, Transport and Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Packaging, or Business Studies.

Professional qualifications in procurement and supply, such as CIPS or recognized equivalents.

Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) combined with relevant vocational training or a National Certificate.

Experience

2+ years of experience sourcing agricultural commodities in East Africa.
