The African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) is a dynamic non-profit social enterprise committed to strengthening fertilizer and agri-input markets across Africa through sustainable, market-driven business solutions and impactful projects in the agricultural inputs and agribusiness sectors.
Our integrated approach includes policy and regulatory reform, capacity building, provision of financial credit, and the development of data-driven market intelligence. By leveraging technical expertise and entrepreneurial innovation, AFAP enhances the fertilizer and agribusiness value chain, linking African Hub Agro-dealers and Smallholder Farmers with global resources, technologies, and financing partners.
This project is designed to support agribusiness development by extending financial services to farmer cooperatives, agro-dealers, and related enterprises. Its ultimate goal is to boost agricultural productivity, improve livelihoods, and strengthen food security through greater access to climate-smart agricultural inputs.
The Resource Mobilization Consultant will play a pivotal role in identifying, developing, and securing financial resources to sustain the Credit Guarantee Project. Working closely with the Country Manager, the consultant will identify potential donors and investors for the Guarantee Fund. The Fund aims to broaden access to agricultural inputs by supporting input suppliers, thereby making inputs more affordable and accessible to smallholder farmers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Resource Mobilization: Identify and secure financial resources from diverse sources, including grants, loans, and investments, to support project activities.
- Financial Institution Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with banks, microfinance institutions, and insurance companies to explore partnerships and funding opportunities.
- Agribusiness Financing: Design financing solutions and products tailored to the needs of agribusinesses and farmers, with a focus on smallholder farmers.
- Proposal Development: Draft compelling proposals and concept notes to attract funding from donors, governments, and private sector partners.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with farmers, agribusinesses, and government agencies to assess financial needs and develop tailored solutions.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate the viability of projects and investments.
- Reporting and Monitoring: Track, document, and report on resource mobilization activities, highlighting progress, challenges, and lessons learned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Financial Expertise: Strong background in finance, with demonstrated experience in resource mobilization, financial analysis, and agribusiness financing.
- Proposal Writing: Proven track record in developing successful proposals and concept notes to secure funding.
- Networking: Established relationships within the financial sector, including banks, microfinance institutions, and insurance providers.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, including conducting financial analysis and feasibility assessments.
- Communication: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
