Job Purpose

To oversee the retail operations of Ramex Petroleum service stations, ensuring profitable operations, excellent customer service, efficient inventory management, compliance with safety standards, and achievement of sales and operational targets. The Retail Manager is responsible for maximizing sales of fuel, LPG, lubricants, and convenience store products while maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of one or more retail service stations.
  • Drive sales growth for fuel, LPG, lubricants, and convenience store products.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
  • Monitor station profitability and control operating expenses.
  • Supervise station managers, supervisors, cashiers, pump attendants, and retail staff.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate retail employees.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and promptly resolve customer complaints.
  • Monitor fuel stock levels, LPG inventory, lubricants, and shop merchandise to prevent stock-outs.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely product replenishment.
  • Monitor cash handling, banking, reconciliations, and retail financial controls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, petroleum regulations, environmental requirements, and health and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular station inspections to maintain cleanliness, branding, equipment functionality, and service quality.
  • Monitor shrinkage, losses, and fuel variances, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Analyze sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities to improve business performance.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational and sales reports for senior management.
  • Support marketing campaigns, customer loyalty initiatives, and promotional activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial customers and local communities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications in management or sales are an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in retail operations, preferably within the petroleum, FMCG, or convenience retail sector.
  • Experience managing multiple retail outlets is an added advantage.
