Background
COLAS, a leading international construction company operating in Uganda, is searching for an experienced candidate to fill the position of Security Manager based in Kampala.
Job
Ensure the protection of personnel, assets, and the project environment in compliance with IFC guidelines, Ugandan laws, and Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) while maintaining a non-confrontational approach and safeguarding human rights.
Experience and qualifications
- Previous experience within Police, security services, army and/or private security organization preferable
- Awareness and understanding of Ugandan and International Human Rights regulations, the International Code of Conduct Association (ICoCA) 2013 guidelines
- Minimum 5 years' working experience of which 3 must have been gained at Senior or Supervisory level in Government or from a reputable security organization
- Bachelor's Degree in either Social Sciences or Commerce or Business Administration or Law or any other relevant qualification from a recognized university or institution of higher learning
- A Postgraduate qualification in relevant courses such as Security, Geopolitics or Crisis Management will be an added advantage
- Police or Military training will be an advantage
- Working experience within culturally diverse organization
- Previous experience in international companies will be an added advantage.

- High degree of integrity and confidentiality
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage numerous deliverables in a timely and effective manner
- Proven ability to meet timelines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- High stress tolerance/calm, composed demeanour in stressful situations
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Project Security Management Plan in line with IFC PS4, VPSHR, and Contractor's HSE plan.
- Responsible for ensuring the security of all personnel.
- Conduct risk and threat assessments regularly
- Establish emergency response and evacuation plans for all work sites.
- Prepare security standard operating procedures (SOPs) for incident handling and site access.
- Oversight of Private Security Providers
- Community Engagement & Stakeholder Coordination
- Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation
- Site Access and Asset Protection
- Training & Capacity Building
- Compliance with company policies including health and safety and ethics
