Soroti University is a Public University in Uganda located in Soroti City, Eastern Uganda Seven (7) kilometres along Soroti-Katakwi- Moroto Road. The University Secretary hereby invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant posts listed below that exist in the University
Job Purpose
To supervise the design, development, implementation and maintenance of infrastructure projects within the University, in line with the strategic plan, standards and the Law.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- A Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering-Structural Engineering or Master of Science in Construction Engineering or Master of Science in Construction Management from a recognized University
- An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering in building and Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Institution.
- Must have been a registered and a member of the ERB for at least 5 (five) years
Experience needed
- At least Five (5) years of wssssssorking experience in Civil Engineering works in a government Institution or department or an equivalent level from a reputable organization.
Responsibilities or duties
- Providing technical advice to the University.
- Supervising the overall administrative function of the directorate and its engineering works.
- Participating in the University’s infrastructure design, development and maintenance.
- Preparing work plans, budgets, cost estimation and expenditure on the University infrastructure.
- Developing a system to carry out infrastructure condition assessments.
- Initiating the procurement, negotiation and monitoring of contract execution and assessing the contractors’ performance.
- Implementing an effective system for the management of those under him or her.
- Developing and implementing systems for the effective supervision of routine, emergency and periodic maintenance activities of University infrastructure.
- Risk management and implementation of audit recommendations on infrastructure development and maintenance activities in the University.
- Managing performance and developing supervisees in line with the performance management system.
- Preparing technical and status reports on building and structural plans implementation.

- An effective system for the management of those under him or her implemented.
- Systems for the effective supervision of routine emergency and periodic maintenance activities of University infrastructure developed and implemented.
- Audit recommendations on infrastructure development and maintenance activities in the University implemented and risk managed.
- Performance and develop supervisees in line with the performance management system managed.
- Technical and status reports on building and structural plans implementation prepared.
