Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Verification Officer to join our team in Kampala. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting thorough, accurate verifications of business information submitted by first-time loan applicants. You will play a crucial role in safeguarding the authenticity, integrity, and quality of credit data, enabling informed decision-making by Credit Relationship Officers (CROs) for higher-value loan applications.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Achieve an Average Loan Value (ALV) of 550,000 UGX for first-time applicants by December 2026.
- Enhance collection rates on first-time loan portfolios.
- Minimize instances of loan slashing through accurate upfront risk assessment.
- Improve conversion rates for qualified loan applications.
- Increase retention rates for newly acquired borrowers.
Key Responsibilities & Operational Workflow
- Verification Assessment: Receive verification requests for qualifying new loan applications exceeding 1,000,000 UGX (specifically where loan agreements exceed 3,000,000 UGX).
- On-Site Field Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive physical and operational assessments of applicant businesses.
- Cross-Departmental Coordination: Collaborate with the Growth and Finance departments to process transport requisitions and manage allocated field funds.
- Risk Reporting: Communicate clear, objective verification feedback to CROs via official internal channels to guide final loan disbursement decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–2 years of hands-on experience in field verification, auditing, risk assessment, or a related role (preferably within the fintech or financial services sector).
- Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with MSME loan processing workflows and credit risk assessment is highly advantageous.
