Currently, Oxfam is implementing a humanitarian response to address the humanitarian needs of South Sudanese refugees hosted in West Nile sub-region. Oxfam’s areas of intervention include WASH, Emergency Food Security and Vulnerable Livelihoods (EFSVL), Gender and Protection. Oxfam works with local partners as a strategy for building humanitarian preparedness and response capacity within the organizations.
Oxfam is seeking to recruit qualified persons to join our dynamic, innovative and committed humanitarian response team. Some of these positions are for immediate placement while others are for potential projects pending confirmation of funding.
PHE Assistant - 6 months fixed term
To be based in Yumbe, the primary responsibility is to participate in WASH assessments and contribute practical solutions to the emerging public health needs. Carry out informal and formal training sessions for volunteers (according to identified needs) and evaluate the impact of this training. Lead site location of communal latrines and where required for household latrines. Supervise construction of latrine superstructures by the contractors as per provided design ensuring conformity to UNHCR standards. Supervise the repair and rehabilitation of boreholes by hand pump mechanics. Supervise and guide installation of new water tanks including plumbing work to connect tank to tap stands. Supervise the casting of Dome Shape latrine slabs for household latrine construction (where applicable). Compile latrine related data and fill in weekly sitreps and biweekly sitreps in liaison with the project officer for monitoring purposes
